Patrick Vieira’s Crystal Palace are interested in signing Conor Gallagher from Graham Potter’s Chelsea in the January transfer window, according to The Sun.

Crystal Palace plan bid for Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher

The report in the British tabloid has claimed that Palace plan to make a bid for Gallagher in the January transfer window and will try to tempt him away from Premier League rivals Chelsea.

However, the 22-year-old midfielder is committed to making it big at Chelsea, and that could prove to be a major obstacle for the Eagles.

Gallagher spent the 2021-22 season on loan at Palace from the Blues.

Could a January transfer happen?

In our view, it is unlikely that Conor Gallagher will leave Chelsea for Crystal Palace or for any other club for that matter in January.

Yes, the youngster is not having the best of times at the former Premier League and UEFA Champions League winners at the moment.

And yes, Chelsea themselves are struggling now.

But, Gallagher is only 22, and he will surely have confidence in himself to become a success at Chelsea.

And if the £50,000-a-week (Spotrac) midfielder really wanted to move on, then it is likely that he would do so in the summer of 2023 and not in the middle of the season.

Gallagher has made seven starts and nine substitute appearances in the Premier League for Chelsea so far this season, scoring one goal and providing one assist in the process.
