While it may be common knowledge that the Saints and the Eagles are in the market for a new right-sided defender, both Premier League clubs could be tempted to reinforce their ranks on the left too.
After all, Southampton are facing up to the prospect of losing one of their longest serving players this summer.
Ryan Bertrand is one of the first names on Ralph Hasenhuttl’s team sheet but he is also due to become a free-agent in 2021.
At Palace, meanwhile, Roy Hodgson has only one senior left-back at his disposal. And, like Bertrand, Patrick Van Aanholt’s future beyond this season remains unclear.
So Tripaldelli’s desire to take a step up the footballing ladder is unlikely to go unnoticed for long.
