Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest both wanted to sign Djibril Sow from Eintracht Frankfurt back in the summer.
That was according to The Athletic, who believed it would take a sum of £21.5m to convince the Bundesliga side to sell their Switzerland international.
A fee like that would be quite affordable for Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest, although we believe the Premier League duo now have no chance of signing Sow.
Crystal Palace & Nottingham Forest must move on
Well, even if Patrick Vieira or Steve Cooper do stump up £21.5m in January, we doubt it would land Sow.
Eintracht Frankfurt may agree, but we simply cannot envisage the 25-year-old leaving.
Sow has just reached the Round of 16 in the Champions League with Eintracht Frankfurt, in what is the German side’s first ever taste of the competition since it was rebranded.
The Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest target has been a key part of his side’s success, making 22 appearances in all competitions, and we highly doubt he will give it all up to join the Eagles or Forest.

Sow is now preparing for a tricky Last 16 tie against Napoli – leaders of Serie A – with that clash set to take place in February.
A January move would end his involvement in the Champions League, and with neither Crystal Palace or Nottingham Forest fighting for the top four, who knows when he would next return to that level if he did depart.
Sow interest is positive for Crystal Palace & Nottingham Forest
Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest fans may not enjoy the fact Sow is starting to escape their grasp, but let’s look at the positives.
The Swiss maestro is an outstanding player, and it speaks volumes about the recruitment teams at Selhurst Park and the City Ground that they were able to identify such a talent, one with a reasonable £21.5m price tag.
It bodes well for their future pursuits, as Vieira and Cooper are clearly working under smart people who are alert to market opportunities across Europe.
Unfortunately, in this instance, Sow will most likely want to continue his Champions League adventure in Germany.
