Liverpool moved level at the top of the Premier League with a 4-2 win at Selhurst Park.

Crystal Palace midfielder James McArthur has claimed that Liverpool are the best team that the Eagles have come up against this season, and is confident that they will be title contenders this year, the Daily Mirror reports.

Jurgen Klopp’s men faced Palace knowing that a victory would put them back level with Manchester City and Arsenal at the top of the table.

And after McArthur had equalised twice for the home side after Emre Can had opened the scoring and then Dejan Lovren had put the Reds back in front, Liverpool hit top gear as goals from Joel Matip and Roberto Firmino ensured that they headed back to Merseyside with a 4-2 win.

Following the defeat, McArthur admitted that he was hugely impressed by what he saw from the joint leaders.

“I’d say that’s the best side we’ve played this year as a team performance,” he said, as reported by the Mirror.

“The front six, the way they press the ball and rotate, they are a really strong contender this year in my opinion.”

Based on current form, it is difficult to argue against the idea of Liverpool being prominent players in the title race. They have not lost in all competitions since the second week of the season, and have won eight of their last nine games.

And with their next run of fixtures not seeing them play another team in the top six until they face Everton in mid-December, it would hardly be a surprise if the Reds are the ones setting the pace for the next couple of months, at least.
