Crystal Palace have confirmed that Sam Allardyce has left the club.

Crystal Palace have announced that manager Sam Allardyce will not only be leaving the club, but he has no intention of managing again.

The Eagles swooped to land Allardyce as their new manager in December 2016 following Alan Pardew’s departure, handing ‘Big Sam’ a return to football following his acrimonious departure from the England job in September.

Allardyce initially started slowly at Selhurst Park, but he masterminded wins over Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool to save the club from relegation, ending the season with a 2-0 defeat at Manchester United on Sunday.

Many expected Allardyce to rebuild Palace this summer, but instead he has decided to call it quits on his time in South London, and in management altogether in a shock move.

Bookmakers are pricing up odds for who could replace Allardyce in the Palace dugout, and here are the current frontrunners, as provided by Oddschecker

Marco Silva: Evens

Silva, 39, may have failed to keep Hull in the Premier League following his arrival in January, but he did give them hope of survival with some strong home results. The Portuguese boss today decided that he was leaving the club, and he can now move on for free. At Evens, Silva is the clear favourite for the Palace job, as he looks to be closing in on an immediate return to the Premier League.

Garry Monk: 5/4

Monk stunned the world today by resigning from his post as Leeds manager, with the club attempting to activate a one-year option on his contract. The 38-year-old now moves on, and he is immediately being touted for the Palace job. Currently the second favourite at 5/4, Monk could land a Premier League move having impressed with Leeds this season, rebuilding his reputation having lost his job with Swansea in December 2015.

Roberto Mancini: 8/1

A Premier League title winner with Manchester City in 2012, Mancini was a popular figure at the Etihad Stadium, and has managed Galatasaray and Inter Milan since he was last seen in the Premier League. A return to England may be in Mancini’s thoughts this summer, and Palace is one of the most high-profile openings. The Italian was favourite for the job on Wednesday, but has now drifted back down to 8/1 tonight, making him the third favourite.

Slavisa Jokanovic: 8/1

Former Chelsea midfielder Jokanovic took Fulham to the Championship play-offs this season, only to lose to Reading in the semi-finals. The Serbian has impressed at Craven Cottage with an exciting brand of football, and his nomadic career – that has seen him manage in Serbia, Thailand, Bulgaria, Spain, England and Israel – means that another move isn’t completely unthinkable. At 8/1, Jokanovic is one of the leading contenders for the Palace job.

Sean Dyche: 9/1

An interesting name in the frame, Burnley boss Dyche has masterminded two promotions to the Premier League with Burnley, and managed to keep the Clarets in the top flight this time around. Dyche has worked wonders on a relatively small budget, and it has seemed like a matter of time before links to other clubs emerged. At 9/1, Dyche is something of a dark horse for the Palace job rather than a firm favourite.
