Could the Barcelona talent be Crystal Palace bound?

Crystal Palace have been made second favourites to sign Sergi Samper, after Bet Victor opened a market on the Barcelona midfielder’s next club.

It follows speculation on Monday that Sergi could be among the players moved on by Barca before the end of next month [Diario AS], although there is no mention of Palace being a potential destination.

The player tipped by some to become Xavi’s heir at Camp Nou has spent each of the past two campaigns out on loan, to Granada and Las Palmas respectively – although the latter spell was cut short prematurely due to injury.

Whilst unexpected, Crystal Palace interest in Sergi – whose contract expires in less than a year’s time – would be plausible given this summer’s departures of Yohan Cabaye and Erdal Rakip in his position.

According to Bet Victor, however, Palace face strong competition from Ajax to secure the 23-year-old’s signature, with the Dutch side leading the betting at 3/1.

The Eagles are 6/1 to be Sergi’s next club, ahead of Stoke City, Sevilla, Valencia and Inter Milan – all 8/1.
