The teenage Arsenal striker, Alfie Matthews, has announced his departure from the club, having appeared on trial for Crystal Palace earlier this summer.
Matthews is understood to have played in at least two of Crystal Palace Under-23s’ pre-season friendlies.
And after confirming the end of his 11-year association with Arsenal on Instagram earlier, the 18-year-old declared via his story that he ‘can’t wait to announce my new club’.
Whether or not that club is Crystal Palace remains to be seen.
Matthews was also linked with a move to Newcastle United earlier this year.
But a transfer across London could appeal to the versatile former Arsenal youngster, by minimising any upheaval.
Matthews is one of several players to have turned out for Crystal Palace’s youth sides this pre-season, after the Eagles’ academy was granted category one status ahead of the new campaign.
But one Palace teenager who could be on his way out of Selhurst Park is Brandon Aveiro.
West Ham United lead several clubs, including Everton, in the race to sign the Portuguese attacking midfielder, according to Teamtalk.

The website states that Aveiro still has a year remaining on his Crystal Palace contract, but adds that the Eagles have already informed him he can leave and will not stand in the way of a move.
Everton and Sporting are both said to have held talks, but the 18-year-old is reportedly training with West Ham ahead of a potential deal.
