Crystal Palace and Leeds are both keen to hire Marco Silva this summer after his impressive efforts at Fulham.

The Daily Mail believe the south Londoners and the Whites are admirers of the Portuguese tactician, with the News Shopper even running with the headline that he is a frontrunner to replace Roy Hodgson at Selhurst Park.

However, it certainly won’t be easy for Crystal Palace or Leeds to hire Marco Silva.

What’s the story?

Well, the Daily Mail believe West Ham are also looking at Silva, who has a £6m release clause written into his contract at Fulham.

The 45-year-old has boosted his reputation this season after guiding Fulham to tenth place – as things stand – in their first campaign back in the Premier League, following promotion from the Championship last term.

Silva, who has 46 Premier League wins to his name, also took the Cottagers to the FA Cup Quarter-Final.

The Lisbon-born coach’s contract at Craven Cottage expires in June 2024, although he is currently in the early stages of negotiations over a renewal.

Crystal Palace better placed to make Marco Silva push than Leeds

At this stage of the season, those safe from relegation can begin to make plans for the summer.

For Crystal Palace – who have secured their Premier League status thanks to Hodgson’s outstanding efforts – that means an approach for Silva, who Tim Sherwood recently called a genius, can take place.

However, as far as Leeds are concerned, the Whites are in serious danger of relegation, which does not put them in a good position to fend off Crystal Palace and West Ham in the battle to lure Silva away from Fulham.

As things stand, Leeds sit 19th in the Premier League, two points away from safety with three games remaining – those fixtures include clashes against Newcastle, West Ham and Tottenham, which isn’t the easiest end to the season by any means.

Be sure to keep an eye on Silva’s situation, as he could be leaving Fulham this summer.
