Crystal Palace fancy signing Orlando City striker Daryl Dike – but have been scared off by the £18million price tag on his head.
That’s according to The Sun, who claim that Patrick Vieira still wants to bring another striker to Selhurst Park.
That’s despite securing the signing of Odsonne Edouard from Celtic on transfer deadline day last month.
Edouard scored twice on his debut against Tottenham Hotspur, but Vieira still wants another striker.
Dike on Palace radar
It’s now stated that Palace scouts have put forward Dike as a possible answer.
The problem is that Major League Soccer side Orlando City have slapped an £18million price tag on Dike – and that’s too rich for Palace’s blood.
Palace do have American owners though, and they would no doubt love to sign the young striker.
Dike, 21, fits the new age profile at Palace. In 22 games on loan at Barnsley last season, Dike hit nine goals.
With three goals in nine games MLS games this season, Dike continues to score – and Palace will no doubt keep looking at him.

Leeds United a threat for Dike
Before the transfer deadline, TEAMtalk reported that Leeds United were considering a move for Dike.
Compared to Romelu Lukaku to former Barnsley teammate Jordan Williams, Dike is big and physical. Similarly, Dike is always a threat to score when he rolls defenders.
Just look at the target men who have thrived under Marcelo Bielsa before; both Andre-Pierre Gignac and Fernando Llorente thrived under him, and Martin Palermo played for him with Argentina.
Bielsa is partial to a big man up top, and with Dike’s movement impressive for his size, Leeds are a threat if Palace don’t make their move.
