Crystal Palace could be about to ease their goalkeeping concerns with the capture of former Liverpool goalkeeper Diego Cavalieri.
The Sun reported on Tuesday that the three-cap Brazil international has flown to London for talks with Palace, for whom Wayne Hennessey is the only fit senior shot-stopper.
The Eagles tried and failed to do a January deal for Getafe’s Vicente Guaita – who will now arrive at Selhurst Park in July – and have since lost Julian Speroni to injury, which has seen 20-year-old Dion-Curtis Henry promoted to second choice.
With the transfer window closed for another four-and-a-half months, Crystal Palace’s only way of strengthening their options is via the free agent market.
And Cavalieri, who worked with Palace boss Roy Hodgson briefly at Liverpool, is perhaps the most suitable candidate – despite his advancing years.
However, the speculation appears to have brought a mixed response from those of an Eagles persuasion.
