Crystal Palace fans are reacting to reports linking their side with a January move for the Bournemouth striker, Jermain Defoe.

According to the Sun, Palace are weighing up a loan approach for Defoe, who is also a target for Sheffield United, Nottingham Forest and Wigan Athletic.

The 36-year-old has found opportunities limited at Bournemouth this season, and the newspaper reports he is considering leaving in search of more game time.

Meanwhile, Crystal Palace’s centre forwards have failed to contribute a single Premier League goal all campaign.

But could the player with 163 in England’s top flight solve Palace’s problem?

This is what those of an Eagles persuasion are saying on Twitter…

J Ellacott‏ @jon_ellacott: “He is quality!! **** age, Teddy Sheringham was still scoring goals at the top level when he was 40 ffs.”

The chance to remain a Premier League player – not to mention the prospect of a return to his native London – with Crystal Palace, may appeal to Defoe more than a move to the Championship with Sheffield United, Nottingham Forest or Wigan.

Defoe is claimed to earn £65,000 a week (or £3.38 million a year) at Bournemouth, and the Eagles are perhaps the most likely of all to match that, which may have a bearing on the Cherries‘ decision.

Would the Bournemouth striker be a good addition for Crystal Palace?
