West Ham United’s Declan Rice has defended Wilfried Zaha.

Crystal Palace’s game against West Ham United was more than a week ago, but there has still been fallout from the match over the international break.

The Eagles came from a goal down to beat West Ham 2-1 at the London Stadium, with Patrick van Aanholt and Jordan Ayew scoring to claim the win after Sebastien Haller’s opener.

That was another great away win for Roy Hodgson’s side, though star player Wilfried Zaha was caught up in an alleged spitting storm.

West Ham fans felt that Zaha had spat at Hammers ace Declan Rice, and were calling for action to be taking against the Ivorian star as a result.

Zaha offered his view, as quoted by Daily Mail, suggesting that West Ham fans had made up lies about him, protesting his innocence over the situation.

Zaha seemingly won’t be banned with no action taken so far, and West Ham ace Rice has now offered his response to the situation whilst on international duty with England.

Rice told The Mirror that he didn’t see Zaha spit at him, and having watched the clips back, he just thinks Zaha spat towards the ground and it just happened to be near him, feeling that Zaha ‘didn’t really do anything’.

There may be a rivalry between Palace and West Ham, but Eagles fans on Twitter have been praising Rice for his honesty, claiming they respect him for looking out for a fellow pro in light of false accusations, though some supporters feel that West Ham fans will still look to accuse Zaha even with Rice defending him.
