Hennessey failed to keep out Christian Eriksen’s long-range strike, allowing Tottenham Hotspur to leave Selhurst Park with all three points.

Wayne Hennessey’s transformation under Sam Allardyce had led some Crystal Palace fans to believe they no longer had a problem between the sticks.
Hennessey’s future had looked to be under threat following the arrival of France international Steve Mandanda during last summer’s transfer window, although the Welshman has kept his rival at bay since November.

His detractors were out in force again on Wednesday, however, after he allowed Christian Eriksen’s long-range strike beat him low to his near side.
Hennessey’s error was the only blot on Palace’s copybook and was enough Tottenham Hotspur all three points at Selhurst Park, denying the Eagles a chance to go 10th in the Premier League.
While Allardyce’s side’s top-flight status is all but secure with six places and seven points separating them and third-bottom Swansea City, many fans were again left questioning Hennessey’s ability to remain as Palace number 1, with his contract set to expire this summer.
