Tottenham Hotspur finally have a date for the first match at their new stadium.

Spurs have announced that they will host Crystal Palace on April 3.

The match will be a midweek game, and will be followed the next week by the Champions League quarter-final at home to Manchester City.

It is an overdue announcement.

Spurs had originally planned to open their stadium back in September.

In the meantime they have been playing at Wembley. Left-back Danny Rose told the Evening Standard earlier this season that it was getting tiresome.

Potential part poopers are Crystal Palace.

Palace are reeling from a FA Cup quarter-final defeat to Watford.

Fans are torn between looking forward to potentially spoiling Tottenham’s big day, to being resigned to defeat.

Palace did knock Tottenham out of the FA Cup earlier this year at Selhurst Park, and will need another big performance.
