Flamini made his first start for Crystal Palace since moving from Arsenal in the summer.
Mathieu Flamini has featured so little for Crystal Palace that his inclusion in Wednesday’s starting lineup prompted many to question when his transfer to Selhurst Park even happened.
(It was 8 September, in case you were still wondering.)
Manchester United’s visit brought only the Frenchman’s fourth appearance for the Eagles and first from the beginning – although his participation was short-lived, as he made way for Joe Ledley at the half-time break.

Flamini’s withdrawal, however, was not performance related, with the midfielder admitting afterwards that he was suffering from a tight groin and hoped to be fit to face Chelsea on Saturday.
As far as many Palace fans are concerned, the former Arsenal man’s cameo was one of few positives from a 2-1 defeat which kept Alan Pardew’s side three points above the Premier League’s relegation places.

Can Flamini save the Eagles’ season? Here’s what’s been said so far:
Flamini, who was not offered a new deal at the Emirates Stadium, is under contract at Crystal Palace until June 2017.
