Crystal Palace suffered a 2-0 loss to Liverpool at Selhurst Park on Monday night as James Milner and Sadio Mane scored in either half – and some Palace fans have reacted to Max Meyer’s late debut from the bench.

Milner opened the scoring late in the first half after Mo Salah went down under the challenge of Mamadou Sakho, sending Wayne Hennessey the wrong way to give Liverpool a half-time lead.

Palace then went down to 10 men after Aaron Wan-Bissaka brought down Salah, as the Egyptian was played through on goal. Mane then eventually doubled Liverpool’s lead in the 93rd minute, running from his own half to score.

A committed display from Palace that presented plenty of positives – including decent performances from Wilfried Zaha, James McArthur, James Tomkins and Andros Townsend. But another positive was Meyer making his debut.

The 22-year-old Germany international came off the bench to play seven minutes after completing a surprise move to Selhurst Park from Schalke, despite being linked with a whole host of big clubs.

Some Palace fans reacted to Meyer’s debut against Liverpool on Monday night, with some very excited with what the attacking midfielder is going to bring to Palace after finally seeing him in a red and blue striped shirt.
