Some Crystal Palace supporters are fearful after watching Vicente Guaita in action against Barcelona on Sunday.

Guaita helped Getafe to a 0-0 draw at the Camp Nou and in doing so became the first visiting goalkeeper to keep a domestic clean sheet there in 34 attempts.

Palace tried and failed to bring the 31-year-old to Selhurst Park in January, although they were able to strike a pre-contract agreement to sign him in the summer.

After Saturday’s 3-1 defeat at Everton, however – which leaves Roy Hodgson’s side a point above the relegation places – several Eagles fans are worried they will never see Guaita in the red and blue of Palace.

Since their failure to land Guaita in January, Crystal Palace have already lost one senior goalkeeper – Julian Speroni – to an injury which could keep him out for much of the rest of the campaign.

20-year-old Dion-Curtis Henry has found himself promoted to the position of Wayne Hennessey’s understudy in recent weeks.
