According to ESPN, Allardyce would be interested in taking over the United States national team, who are looking for a new boss after Bruce Arena quit following their failure to qualify for the 2018 World Cup.
Allardyce has been out of a job since quitting Palace in May, when he explained that he was not looking for a new club and wanted to focus on spending time with his family, according to The Sun.
The Sun adds that Eagles chairman Steve Parish honoured a £2m bonus that Allardyce earned after steering Palace away from Premier League relegation, but that sum must be repaid if the 63-year-old takes another job before 2019.
That money could go into Roy Hodgson’s funds for the January transfer window.
With Palace bottom of the table, every penny would count for Hodgson as he aims to emulate Allardyce’s survival mission.
