As reported by the Daily Mail, Crystal Palace have made a late move to try to sign Liverpool midfielder Marko Grujic on loan and in turn deal Cardiff City a blow.

Grujic is a player Jurgen Klopp is willing to let go this summer, albeit temporarily, as the German seeks to trim his squad ahead of the new season.

The 22-year-old has been very much on the periphery since joining the club in 2016 from Red Star Belgrade, and has only made 14 appearances for the club, eight of which have come in the Premier League.

It has been difficult for the youngster to forge his way into the first-team, given there are players such as Jordan Henderson, Gini Wijnaldum, Adam Lallana, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and now Naby Keita and Fabinho, and the last couple of years have seen him go out on loan to Cardiff and old club Red Star.

The Mail claims Palace want to take the Serbian star to Selhurst Park for the 2018/19 season, and it actually could be a great move for Grujic, especially with compatriot Luka Milivojevic already at Palace.

The impressive 27-year-old is a natural-born leader and has already worked his way up to being made club captain. His influence on Grujic could potentially be ideal for the youngster’s development and he could act as his mentor

Milivojevic would definitely settle Grujic in quickly, and there is a possibility that the two would forge a good understanding in the same midfield due to their shared nationality, assuming of course that the former would be afforded the game time by Palace boss Roy Hodgson.
