Crsytal Palace are said to have missed out on the Watford boss’ appointment after Parish refused to return early from his holiday.
Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish
Steve Parish has responded to the Daily Mail’s claim that his refusal to return early from his holiday to Majorca scuppered Crystal Palace’s chances of appointing Marco Silva.
Palace remain without a manager nearly a month since Sam Allardyce resigned, while Silva, who earned plaudits despite being unable to save Hull City from relegation, was swiftly hired by Watford after quitting the KCOM Stadium.

According to the Mail, Silva had been the number one target of Eagles chairman Parish, whose approach is said to have left the Portuguese “unimpressed”.
But the businessman has responded swiftly to Monday’s article, which he described as “utter tosh”.
Parish posted on Twitter:
Argentine boss Mauricio Pellegrino is the current bookies’ favourite to succeed Allardyce at Palace, with Sean Dyche – a former Watford manager – and Frank de Boer also listed as contenders.
Allardyce only arrived at Selhurst Park last December, with the Eagles sitting 17th in the Premier League.

The former England boss ultimately led the south Londoners to 14th place, seven points clear of Silva’s Hull.
