Crystal Palace will be hoping to finish in the top half of the Premier League after spending vast sums of money throughout the transfer window.
Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish
Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish has explained how his desire to establish the Eagles as a top-10 Premier League side was behind his club’s spending spree in the summer, when speaking to talkSPORT, and reported via LondonNewsOnline.
The Eagles laid out more than £50 million throughout the transfer window on an array of top talents including Christian Benteke and Andros Townsend, and Parish discussed the club’s ambitions:

“Alan is changing the way we play slightly. At the moment we play as a 10th-down side – we want to get to 10th-up if we can.”
Despite a wonderful start to last season’s campaign, the South London outfit’s form dropped dramatically after the turn of the year and they finished up in 15th position in the table.
After taking just one point from their opening three games, Alan Pardew will be hoping his side can reverse their fortunes of last season, and put a good run together.

Parish highlighted the stability at other clubs such as Everton and Southampton, and described how it is their established nature that he is trying to emulate with Palace when speaking to talkSPORT, reported via LondonNewsOnline:
“If you look, clubs like Everton, Southampton and even Swansea are all fully established Premier League sides who are not going anywhere. If you’re 10th or below during the season there is always the chance of being relegated – you’re only a three or four game bad run of really being sucked into it.”
Palace resume their Premier League duties with a tricky looking trip to Middlesbrough on Saturday, in a game that holds so much importance despite being so early on in the season.
