Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Eagles boss Alan Pardew highlighted the rivalry between Belgian pair Christian Benteke and Romelu Lukaku as an intriguing sub-plot in what should be an exciting encounter, as quoted by the club’s official Twitter account.
Crystal Palace take on Everton tomorrow night at Goodison Park in what has the makings of an enthralling contest, in the Premier League’s third instalment of Friday Night football.
Pardew was speaking to reporters in the build up to his side’s game against the Toffees tomorrow, and discussed Benteke’s ambition to win his place back in the Belgian national team, as quoted by the official Crystal Palace Twitter account:
Crystal Palace’s Christian Benteke
“Christian and Lukaku are both top players. Lukaku has Christian’s shirt for Belgium at the moment and Christian wants that shirt. A great sub-plot.”
Everton’s Romelu Lukaku
The South London outfit are currently in the midst of an impressive run of form which has seen them record three consecutive Premier League victories, and helped them rise to seventh in the table.
Their task of continuing that run of results will be put to the test tomorrow night against a very strong Everton side, who find themselves in fifth place in the table, after four wins, a draw and a loss from their opening six outings.
The game kicks-off tomorrow night at 20:00 and can be seen live on Sky Sports.
