The Eagles gaffer is successfully steering the club away from safety, and once again stumped a top club.
Crystal Palace’s Mamadou Sakho in action with Chelsea’s Diego Costa
While it was a huge moment when struggling Crystal Palace went to the Premier League champions elect in Chelsea and won 2-1 at Stamford Bridge, it was also a big victory for Sam Allardyce.
The Eagles boss started this season in charge of the England national team, but left disgraced after a tabloid frenzy saw him take care of just a single Three Lions fixture.
The 62-year-old has taken his chance of redemption at Selhurst Park with both hands, and demonstrated yet again how he seems to find a way to unsettle and get results against the better teams, with supposedly tactically superior managers.
Following Portugal’s exploits at Euro 2016, it’s a trait that should have been embraced by England, and really The FA should have stood by a man who could have changed the nations fortunes.
England manager Sam Allardyce after the press conference
Allardyce upsets the odds a lot – he’s still to be relegated as a Premier League manager, and last year Sunderland were all but doomed until he stepped foot in the Stadium of Light, taking the club on an incredible run that saw them lose just once between March and the end of the season.
Palace were in danger of going down prior to Allardyce’s arrival as well, but yet again he’s proving his worth as a manager – and also proving that he should still be in the England dugout in the process.
