Rangers have been linked with bringing the Jamaican to Ibrox this summer.
Rangers have recently been linked with bringing former Crystal Palace and Reading defender Adrian Mariappa to Ibrox this summer.
The Jamaican international has been released by Palace and Rangers’ interest has been well documented in the versatile defender.
The Daily Record reported in mid-June that Rangers assistant David Weir and chief scout Frank McParland had met with Mariappa regarding a potential move to Glasgow this summer.
No deal has yet progressed but today saw the Record carrying quotes from Palace assistant Keith Millen – who insisted that Mariappa would be an impressive signing for Rangers or any team when he finds a new club this summer.
Millen stated:
“We’ve had to release a few senior players who have been model pros. One of those was Adrian.
“He’s a fantastic professional but became frustrated at a lack of playing time. He’ll be a great signing for someone and he still has a lot to offer.”
Rangers have already brought in seven players to Ibrox this summer and are still on the hunt for some more additions.
Mariappa, who can play along the back line, has 38 caps for the Jamaican national team and first came to the fore at Watford before an impressive season at Reading.
Rangers are looking to improve their back-line, which looked shaky at times last season, before their return to the Scottish Premiership in 2016-17.
