Crystal Palace have made contact with Villarreal over the signing of Everton target Arnaut Danjuma.

What’s the story?

Well, according to The Athletic, the south Londoners are hoping to sign the Netherlands international – however, it seems he is now on his way to Goodison Park.

Despite Frank Lampard receiving his P45 after Saturday’s 2-0 defeat to West Ham, the Toffees are seemingly closing in on a deal for Danjuma, who has fallen out of favour at Villarreal since Unai Emery left for Aston Villa.

The Daily Mail believe the £34,000-a-week man has already completed his medical on Merseyside, and despite Lampard being hugely influential in convincing the forward to join, the deal will still go ahead despite his sacking.

Crystal Palace are also in talks with VfB Stuttgart over a deal to sign Naouirou Ahamada, but asked about Danjuma as Patrick Vieira targets a winger to improve his squad.

Sadly for those at Selhurst Park, it seems the Dutchman is moving to Everton, so they will have to look elsewhere.

So far this season, Danjuma has scored six goals in 17 appearances across all competitions.

Danjuma should’ve joined Crystal Palace over Everton

In our view, a move to SE25 would have been the better option for Danjuma.

Everton are currently in turmoil, and nobody knows if Lampard’s replacement will even use the Dutch attacker regularly given the uncertainty over the managerial situation.

Danjuma has already experienced a similar thing this season after Quique Setién replaced Emery and dropped him to the bench, so it would have made more sense for him to join a settled environment at Crystal Palace, where there are no immediate plans to replace Vieira.

Alongside the likes of Wilfried Zaha, Michael Olise and Eberechi Eze, the 25-year-old would have also been amongst many talented players to help bring out his best.

Be sure to keep an eye out, as we expect Everton to officially announce Danjuma’s arrival shortly.
