Saturday’s late kick-off arguably proved to be the game of the day as Liverpool beat Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

In an end-to-end affair, the Reds ran out as 4-2 winners with goals from Emre Can, Dejan Lovren, Joel Matip and Roberto Firmino seeing them leave London with all three points.

An interesting subtext in the game was striker Christian Benteke, who was coming up against his former team for the first time since leaving the club this summer.

It proved to be a highly frustrating game for the Belgian, who was left isolated for much of the 90 minutes.

Before the game, we compared him with Roberto Firmino to discover how the two players had matched up this season.

The Brazilian won in that comparison, so who came out on top in the game? We have taken a look.

It proved to be another success for Firmino as he won in five of the eight areas analysed.

He registered more shots than Benteke, four compared to three and enjoying a better shooting accuracy, 25% compared to 0%. The Crystal Palace man did put more shots on target, though.

Firmino will not mind too much, however, as he managed to bag a goal in the game while Benteke did not.

Neither team managed an assist or a key pass in 90 minutes but Firmino was the better passer as he registered more accurate passes and enjoyed a better overall passing accuracy.
