West Ham beat Crystal Palace 1-0 on Saturday evening.

Saturday afternoon saw the return of Premier League football following the second international break of the season.
The late kick-off saw Crystal Palace hosting West Ham United at Selhurst Park looking to continue their unbeaten run.
The focus on the game was firmly on the centre of defence, with James Tomkins coming up against his old club for the first time since departing in the summer.
Before the game, we compared him with Angelo Ogbonna to see how the two players had fared so far this season.
The West Ham man came out on top in that comparison, winning in six of the eight areas analysed. So how did the two players compare in the game? We have taken a look.

As it turns out it was Tomkins who had the better evening as he came out on top in five areas overall.
He managed to win more defensive duels than Ogbonna, five compared to zero, as well as more aerial duels, three compared to zero.
He also came out on top in terms of winning the ball back in the defensive third and ball recoveries.

His passing was also superior as he posted more accurate passes, 36 compared to 23, although Ogbonna came out on top when it came to overall passing accuracy.
The Italian was also better in terms of interceptions, posting four won compared to Tomkin’s tally of three won.
The duo was level in one area and that was tackling as they both failed to register a single won tackle in the game.
