Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to react to footage of Virgil van Dijk’s highlights from when Tottenham visited Anfield in the 2018/19 campaign.
The Netherlands international was in typically colossal form when Mauricio Pochettino took his Spurs side to Anfield last year.
With Liverpool gunning for the Premier League title, they were in no mood to throw away any cheap points, and Van Dijk typified that attitude.
As WhoScored shows, the former Celtic powerhouse made a huge six clearances on that day, in which a 90th minute Toby Alderweireld own goal handed Jurgen Klopp’s men all three points.
There was also one second-half moment in which Van Dijk found himself as the only man back, up against Moussa Sissoko and Heung-min Son.

The Dutchman jockeyed the ball effectively, opting to close down the pass to Son – the deadlier finisher.
He then put pressure on the Frenchman, who blazed his effort high and off-target.

Liverpool’s No.4 is still recovering from a serious knee injury sustained in a collison with Jordan Pickford, so he won’t be available to repeat his heroics tonight.
For now, let’s see what the Reds supporters on Twitter have been saying about the footage before tonight’s game against Jose Mourinho’s men…
