Liverpool fans have been left frustrated after the club’s official account posted that Thiago Alcantara is unlikely to feature against Newcastle United.

Liverpool supporters had been hoping that Thiago would return to their starting line-up tonight.

However, the Reds’ Twitter account moved to quash those suggestions last night, as they published quotes from Jurgen Klopp.

“It’s not really likely that he will travel [to Newcastle], let me say it like this,” the Reds boss said.

The reaction to the news has been one of sheer frustration from Liverpool fans.

Liverpool supporters are understandably desperate to see Thiago in action as he is yet to really get going at Anfield.

There was great excitement when the Reds brought in Thiago from Bayern Munich over the summer, but he has spent most of time on Merseyside out with injury to date.

When Thiago does eventually return to full fitness it is expected that he could be given a key role in Liverpool’s midfield, as Fabinho looks set to continue to cover as a central defender for the foreseeable future.
