Jose Enrique has suggested that Naby Keita may never play for Liverpool again.
The former Leipzig midfielder, a £52 million signing in 2018 [The Echo], has spent a lot of his four-year spell at Anfield on the sidelines due to injury.
But this season it seems particularly poor.
Keita hasn’t kicked a ball for Liverpool since the Community Shield victory over Manchester City toward the end of July.
And with his contract expiring in the summer of 2023, the former Reds left-back has intimated that he might never play for the Merseysiders ever again.

Enrique might be right and when you think about it, it’s crazy that Jurgen Klopp went into this season without signing a couple of midfielders.
They’ve been unlucky with Keita’s injuries but, then again, he has a long history of being unavailable and therefore relying on him is always a gamble liable to blow up in the German’s face.
Liverpool haven’t even replaced Gini Wijnaldum and he left Klopp’s side nearly 18 months ago.
This midfield has needed freshening up for years and whether Keita does play again or not, it doesn’t change the fact new bodies are desperately needed.
