Jack Grealish, Tyrone Mings and Ollie Watkins’ partner, Ellie Alderson, all reacted on Instagram to the Aston Villa striker earning a deserved debut England call on Thursday afternoon.

Months and months after making a big-money move from Brentford, Watkins is now going to taste life as an England player, after the squad was announced for the forthcoming internationals.

It’s a deserved call up for the 25-year-old, who hasn’t just contributed goals and assists for Villa this season, but non-stop hard work, intelligent pressing and constant hunger to win the ball back in the final third.

Nonetheless, Mings, who has also been called up by his country once again, wrote on his Instagram story this afternoon ‘So happy for you, Ollie Watkins. One of the hardest-working players I have played with’.

Watkins partner wrote on her Instagram story: ‘Crying’ added with ‘Not sure how I’m meant to concentrate at work this afternoon.’

Whilst she also posted these messages on Twitter.

Meanwhile, Grealish, who misses out on selection because of injury wrote on his Instagram story: ‘OLLLIEEE,’ added with a heart eyes emoji. ‘So happy for you brother and so deserved.’

The key for Watkins now is ensuring he keeps his England place because there is some serious competition in that area.

It does seem as though a spot is open for an uncapped striker to be on that plane for the delayed Euros this summer and the ball is now in Watkins court.

One thing is for sure, there will be nothing but pure dedication from the speedster, whose game will only continue to rise during these coming years.
