West Ham must provide Andy Carroll and Javier Hernandez with quality service.
David Moyes, manager of West Ham United.
The David Moyes era did not get off to the best of starts yesterday, as they were comfortably beaten by Watford at Vicarage Road.
The Hammers’ poor form this term continued and they certainly looked no better under the Scotsman’s guidance than that of the recently sacked Slaven Bilic.
But if there is one fixture from Moyes past that West Ham fans should take hope from, they should look back to the 9th February 2014.
David Moyes, Manager of West Ham United
Moyes was Manchester United manager at the time and his side took on Fulham at Old Trafford. It was a game that ended 2-2 and became synonymous with the Moyes-era at United. His side put in 81 crosses during the game. He was famously derided for the tactic, especially as the Fulham defence consisted of the 6ft 7in defender Dan Burn on the night.
But if he can get West Ham putting in similar service, he could be on to a winner.
The Hammers have Andy Carroll in their arsenal, potentially one of the best headers of a ball in world-football. Not only that, but in Javier Hernandez they have a wiley poacher who is often in the right place at the right time to finish off any scraps that might be had.
At Everton the Scot had similar success with a crossing game. Delivery from the likes of Leighton Baines or Mikel Arteta often found the back of the net via Tim Cahill, Marouane Fellaini or Duncan Ferguson.

West Ham just need to produce quality into the box. If Carroll and Hernandez are then told to simply stay in the opposing box for as much time as possible West Ham will undoubtedly start picking up points.
It might not be the ‘West Ham way’ but judging by their recent form it might be the best option they have to survive in the Premier League this season.
