Garth Crooks has written on BBC Sport that he has changed his opinion on Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah after his performance against Manchester City at Anfield last night.

Salah helped Liverpool to a 2-2 draw with City at Anfield in the Premier League.

The 29-year-old former Chelsea attacker provided the assist for Sadio Mane’s goal on 59 minutes.

Then in the 76th minute, Salah scored a wonderful and world-class solo goal.

Former Tottenham Hotspur forward Crooks has raved about Salah, and has said that he has now completely changed his mind about the forward.

Crooks wrote on BBC Sport: “It’s official: Mohamed Salah is back to his best and being the player I saw arrive at Anfield four years ago.

“Regular readers will know that I have had my issues with Salah when I thought he was chasing the golden boot award the moment the first ball of the season was kicked. Not anymore.

“Against Manchester City he was unselfish, showed blistering pace and sublime finishing. The ball for Sadio Mane to score was sensational while his own goal was just breathtakingly brilliant in such circumstances. Great to you have you back, Mo.”

World class

Salah was Liverpool’s best player against City and could have actually scored more goals.

The 29-year-old was a constant threat to the City defence.

The Liverpool star took three shots, played two key passes, had a pass accuracy of 84.2%, won one header, took 47 touches, attempted five dribbles, made four tackles and one clearance, and put in two crosses.

Now, every top goalscorer is selfish.

You simply have to be.

Otherwise you will not score 20 or 30 goals a season.

Salah might seem selfish at times, but the forward consistently delivers the goods.

The forward scored 22 goals in the Premier League last season, and has scored six goals and given three assists in seven Premier League appearances so far this campaign.
