Michael Brown praised Jack Harrison for his goal during Leeds United’s 3-1 win against Burnley on Sunday and claimed that he ‘needed’ that goal, as he told BBC Sport.
The former Leeds player stated that there had been some ‘criticism’ towards the 25-year-old prior to today’s relegation showdown at Elland Road.
It wasn’t easy for the Yorkshire club because they had to twice take the lead to secure a much-needed three points.
A number of Leeds games have been postponed lately because of COVID issues, but that hasn’t also stopped the injury woes from pilling up on Marcelo Bielsa’s side either.
Even though he had the likes of Patrick Bamford and Kalvin Phillips absent, Leeds still secured the points and this is what Brown had to say about Harrison.
“Jack Harrison needed that goal,” said Brown. “There’s been a little bit of criticism towards him.
“He was wonderful last year, he’s had a couple of injuries and come back in. He’ll be delighted to get on the scoresheet.
“He anticipated where the ball was going and he showed determination, he followed James Tarkowski all the way to the box.”

Harrison spent a number of seasons on-loan at Elland Road before he signed on a permanent basis from Manchester City.
Every season under Bielsa, he made improvements and was a crucial reason as to why they earned promotion and then finished in the top ten last season upon their return to the promised land.
But along with Leeds, he stagnated during this campaign and he will be hoping today’s goal can pick himself up from the deck once more.
It hasn’t helped him that Bamford has been in the treatment room for a long while, but unlike Phillips, at least the Englishman could be back for the next match.
