Josh Onomah is spending the season on loan at Championship outfit Aston Villa from Premier League giants Spurs.

Josh Onomah has hardly been ripping up trees during his loan spell at Aston Villa. In fact, halfway through the season, the Tottenham Hotspur youngster continues to divide supporters with his inconsistent displays.
Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino told The Guardian that the Premier League giants have the option to cut short Onomah’s loan spell in January and bring him back to North London. In reality, however, that would make little sense.
Onomah has already made more league appearances in four months at Villa than he had in two full years in Spurs’ first-team plans.

And though the reaction of Villa fans on Twitter suggested they would hardly shed a tear if Onomah was forced to return to North London midway through the season, perhaps this should be taken as an indication that the 20-year-old is clearly not ready to fight for a first-team place at Spurs.
After all, Pochettino isn’t short of quality midfielders. Even Moussa Dembele has struggled to keep his place in Spurs’ starting XI in recent months.
And while Onomah has not quite made the impression Villa fans were hoping for, he has still made improvements under Steve Bruce and the first-team football gained in the Championship is surely far more valuable than being stuck in the sterilised world of academy football.

The Birmingham Mail sought to make Onomah’s situation clear on Tuesday by stating that the England youth star is likely to stay at Villa for the rest of the season.
Though this may not go down too well with his biggest critics, this is clearly the right decision for all parties.
