Gary Neville has put out a plea on Twitter that it is ‘critical’ the fan-led review into the European Super League is ‘accelerated’, with the likes of Liverpool, Manchester United, Chelsea and Manchester City staying clear despite it being back on.

The Manchester United legend added that Juventus, Barcelona and Real Madrid are ‘pushing’ for the European Super League again.

La Liga president Javier Tebas has fired shots at this news by claiming that those who are pushing for the European Super League ‘lie more than Putin’, as quoted by the Mirror.

Over a year ago, the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea were amongst the clubs who informed their supporters that they will be joining a newly-formed league involving some of the top and richest clubs across Europe.

As soon as that news dropped, the backlash from supporters and the media was ferocious, which then led to the Premier League clubs involved bailing out before the ink was dry.

But it seems as though the rich at the top want to get richer and they aren’t stopping, as fans from the likes of Liverpool, Manchester United, Chelsea, to name a few, will back what Neville has had to say on the news emerging today.

Simply put, the powers at the top won’t stop until they get what they want.

They may brush it up in a different way, but a European Super League of some sort, or in some capacity will happen.

It’s just further indicating that the more money there is in the game, the more the game is dying from within.

The average football supporter is no longer being respected and probably has been treated more like a ‘customer’ rather than a supporter ever since 1992.

It’s not getting any better, but worse, from ESL’s to having a World Cup every two years, none of this benefits the supporter, but the back pockets of the rich.
