The Real Madrid attacker is reportedly seeking a return to England- surely only Manchester City could afford him?
Manchester United fans are rightfully enjoying the current ill-feeling and fallout that Carlos Tevez is causing at Manchester City.
After all, City decided to rub it in their faces that they had captured one of their biggest stars with their now infamous ‘Welcome to Manchester’ billboard.
So imagine the hysteria a new ‘Welcome to Manchester’ campaign would cause, with former United star Cristiano Ronaldo in sky blue.
This would be the scene if City splash out a world record £100 million fee for Ronaldo this summer.
Reports this weekend have suggested Ronaldo is looking for a way out of Madrid, and is eyeing a return to England.
He always enjoyed his life in Manchester, but felt that Madrid was his destiny, an itch waiting to be scratched.
It has not been all it was cracked up to be.
Yes they won the Copa Del Rey last season, and are on course to win La Liga, but their constant failures in El Clasico and Barcelona’s Champions League win means Madrid are constantly seen as inferior.
Ronaldo cut a frustrated figure in Madrid’s last defeat, and seems far from content, despite his numerous personal milestones.
So if he was to leave, where would he go?
Like Tevez has found, it is not easy finding a buyer when you are considered as such a valuable commodity.
With his fee likely to top the £80 million he was sold for, it is highly unlikely Manchester United would be able to enter the bidding for him
City could afford him, and would be willing to send United- and the rest of the world, a message by capturing him.
The club also have Tevez, who could be used as a pawn in a swap deal. There were rumours Madrid want Aguero too, and while City would be unwilling to let him go, it could happen if it was a deal breaker.
Whether this move happens is down to Ronaldo, if he wants out, City would likely make an offer, then it would be up to him if he wanted to go from being a United icon, to a figure of hate.
