Cristiano Ronaldo pledges his future to Saudi Arabia

In remarks captured via Fabrizio Romano, Ronaldo said, “I belong to Saudi Arabia. I want to continue here. It’s a country that welcomed me, as well as my family and friends.

“I’m happy here and want to continue here.”

Ronaldo’s statement comes in a period of high visibility for the Al-Nassr forward. He has been publicly embraced by global figures, including US President Donald Trump, who praised Ronaldo during a White House dinner and encouraged his presence in America, even alluding to a broader role for him in the world of football and beyond.

Trump’s remarks included admiration for Ronaldo’s status as one of the sport’s greatest players and a suggestion that America could benefit from his presence.

Despite the external buzz, Ronaldo’s declaration makes it clear he remains focused on his time in Saudi Arabia, where he has been a central figure for Al-Nassr and the Saudi Pro League since joining in 2023.

Saudi Pro League transfer window strike and Ronaldo’s stance

Ronaldo’s future in Saudi Arabia recently drew extra attention when he chose to sit out matches for Al-Nassr in protest against what many reports described as frustration over the club’s transfer activity during the winter window.

The striker’s absence from key matches was widely interpreted as a strike linked to dissatisfaction with recruitment decisions and perceived underinvestment compared with other PIF-owned teams.

However, league officials publicly reminded that decisions on transfers are made at the club level, and not by individual players.

Although his protest briefly sidelined him, Ronaldo has since returned to action and continued to anchor Al-Nassr’s title bid.

Ronaldo’s focus remains on performing for his side and staying committed to the league that welcomed him and his family, underscoring that, for now, Saudi Arabia is where he plans to stay.
