Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo hit another milestone on Sunday as his goal against Barcelona put him level with Raul for third most goals in El Clasico.

Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo hit another career milestone on Sunday as his goal in the 2-1 defeat to Barcelona put him level with Raul for third most goals in El Clasico history.

Ronaldo scored his side’s lone goal in the 30th minute of Sunday’s thrilling Clasico, his 15th in 23 games, pushing him past legendary stars Gento, Puskas and César, who remain tied for fourth on the list with 14 efforts.

Ronaldo now sits just three goals adrift of equalling Alfredo Di Stefano’s club record for El Clasico goals and six away from Lionel Messi, whose 21 goals are the most between either club.

Since the Portuguese international’s El Clasico debut during the 2009-2010 season, he has scored 15 goals in 23 Clasicos with one assist, but his numbers at the Camp Nou since the 2011-12 campaign have been the most impressive, as he’s scored three goals in four meetings.

However, Ronaldo may never reach Messi as the Argentine, while not scoring on Sunday, still has several more years ahead of him while the 30-year-old Portuguese star has been linked with both a move back to Manchester United and MLS in the United States.

The Daily Mail reported just a matter of days ago that Ronaldo could be heading back to Old Trafford this summer – six years after leaving for Spain – although they have also suggested that the Red Devils may be interested in returning his Real colleague Gareth Bale to the Premier League two years after his record-breaking switch from Tottenham Hotspur.
