Tottenham assistant manager Cristian Stellini has told Friday’s press conference – as per Football London – that Spurs want to use Arnaut Danjuma as a striker, or in the no.10 role, rather than as a winger following his loan arrival.
Danjuma, 25, has joined Tottenham on loan with the option to buy the Netherlands star on a permanent basis. It comes after 16 goals and four assists in his first season at Villarreal – and then another six goals in 17 this season.
The attacker is able to play out wide, as a 10 or as a striker. It is unclear where he will play for Tottenham while on loan. But ahead of this weekend’s FA Cup clash against Championship side Preston, Stellini spoke about Danjuma.
Stellini says that Tottenham see Danjuma as a striker, or as a no.10. The latter is interesting, given Spurs do not play with an attacking midfielder in their 3-4-3 system. But it might be that with Danjuma, Spurs may change formation.

“It depends on the system. He could be a no.10 or a striker. This is the way we want to work with him. We said many times that we need a player to change [matches]. We need the players to add to our rotation. It’s good to have him.”

Danjuma is a smart signing from Spurs. He will know full well that he is not joining the club to start games. He would be foolish to think that. Spurs have Harry Kane, Son Heung-min and Deki Kulusevski in the front three, under Conte.
Richarlison starts for Brazil, and he struggles to get into the side. But, Danjuma offers something a bit different. The kind of impact player that can come off the bench and shine. So, Danjuma can impress, even if he does not start.
