Tottenham Hotspur assistant manager Cristian Stellini has told Football London in his post-match press conference that Son Heung-min was feeling better after his side’s 2-1 win over Marseille – after being forced off with a facial injury.
Son, 30, was withdrawn just before the half-hour mark against Marseille. A clumsy challenge from Marseille’s Chancel Mbemba left the South Korea skipper looking dazed, rubbing what appeared to be his cheekbone. He was taken off.
Unlike Emi Martinez on the weekend – the Aston Villa goalkeeper remained on the pitch after a knock to his head – before coming off, Son went off immediately. But it was a nasty looking blow, and a big blow for Tottenham, too.
Spurs are already without Dejan Kulusevski until after the World Cup, and Richarlison is also injured. Stellini gave an update with Antonio Conte barred from doing anything media wise. He says that Son was feeling better after full-time.
“We have to check on him tomorrow but Son felt better in the dressing room after the game and he was able to celebrate. We’re not sure if it is concussion yet. It was an injury to his face, his eye is swollen,” Stellini said.

Stellini: Son feeling better after nasty-looking Tottenham injury
Tottenham take on Liverpool this weekend, in North London. A game that fans will be hoping their side can win, given Liverpool’s form in the Premier League. Jurgen Klopp has watched his side lose back-to-back to Forest and Leeds.
However, Son looks as though he could miss the game. A real blow, not least because Son is one of Tottenham’s best players. But also, because Spurs are likely to be without Richarlison, and definitely Kulusevski. Lucas Moura is fit.
As is Bryan Gil. Ivan Perisic and Ryan Sessegnon are capable of playing further forward. While, Yves Bissouma could come in in midfield. It will also be interesting to see the fitness of Rodrigo Bentancur and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.
