It has been claimed that Cristian Romero and Richarlison threatened to leave Tottenham Hotspur after Antonio Conte slammed the players after their 3-3 draw against Southampton.
Romero & Richarlison threatened Tottenham exits after Conte outburst
Branding his players as ‘selfish’ and criticising the club’s mentality, Conte went out with a bang, as he chose not to bite his tongue whatsoever.

But it seems as if Cristian Romero and Richarlison were not best pleased, with journalist Gaston Edul claiming that the pair gave Tottenham Hotspur an ‘ultimatum’ after Antonio Conte blasted the players.
Since then, the former Chelsea manager and Spurs’ love affair has ended, with the club now on the lookout for a new coach.
It was further claimed that after Antonio Conte bid farewell to Tottenham, leading Cristian Stellini to be instilled as the caretaker manager, Cristian Romero and Richarlison are happy to stay put.
It seems their outlooks have done a complete U-turn and now they are fully committed to being key contributors to the Lilywhites once again.
In the case of Richarlison especially, unlike Cristian Romero, Antonio Conte famously referred to him as ‘selfish’ after the former complained about a lack of playing time since his move from Tottenham after his side’s Champions League exit.
Perhaps this public war of words may have pushed the Brazilian to the brink on wanting to find a new club after all.
Tottenham fans will not be happy whatsoever
Just judging by the sentiment on social media, Tottenham supporters were overjoyed by Antonio Conte calling out the players and the board, and seeing how the Spurs duo threatened to leave after his candid confessions will likely anger them.
While Conte perhaps went overboard with the harshness of his criticisms, the fans would perhaps believe that what he said was absolutely on point.
Unless the pair get the fanbase on their sides with brilliant performances going forward, they could be in for a lot of stick.
