Tottenham Hotspur produced a superb performance on Sunday afternoon, securing a 1-0 win over Manchester City as Cristian Romero made his debut.

Few were giving Spurs much of a chance of beating Pep Guardiola’s men.

City went into the new season as favourites for the Premier League title and were able to unleash £100million new signing Jack Grealish on Sunday.

As for Tottenham, their chances didn’t look so great; Harry Kane wasn’t in the squad and their three new signings were all on the bench rather than starting.

City were the dominant force early on, but Tottenham gradually grew into the game, winning the ball back feverishly whilst countering with a real threat.

That’s how the winning goal came about; Tottenham countered and Son Heung-min fired a left-footed strike past Ederson to secure the win.

Tottenham stood strong to secure the win, leaving fans rapturous, even chanting ‘Are you watching Harry Kane?’ as the England striker sat at home watching Tottenham pull off a great win.

Late in the day, Tottenham brought on new signing Cristian Romero to help keep City at bay, winning two aerial duels in limited time on the pitch.

The Argentinian took to Instagram after the game to react to his debut, noting that there is simply no better way to start the season after a ‘very good’ game, with Romero no doubt hoping for more days like this.
