Tottenham Hotspur defender Cristian Romero has heaped praise on centre back partner Micky van de Ven after his performance against Bournemouth.

Micky van de Ven has been praised as ‘amazing’ by fellow Tottenham Hotspur defender Cristian Romero.

Tottenham made the trip down to the South Coast on Saturday afternoon in search of a second straight win under Ange Postecoglou.

Spurs were impressive once again as the Postecoglou style was on show for all to see at the Vitality Stadium.

James Maddison grabbed the opener, slotting home in the first half was Pape Matar Sarr unlocked the Bournemouth defence.

Spurs had to withstand some pressure in the second half but came through it well before Dejan Kulusevski sealed it with Tottenham’s second.

Tottenham briefly went top of the league with that win and whilst it’s early days, fans seem to be right behind Postecoglou and his approach.

Seven points from a possible nine is a strong start for Tottenham and two clean sheets in a row is a nice bonus too.

Those clean sheets are a real boost for Postecoglou given that he is working with a very new back line.

Guglielmo Vicario and Micky van de Ven only arrived over the summer, Destiny Udogie is young and is just starting his Premier League career, Cristian Romero has been criticised as rash and Pedro Porro is hardly known his defending.

Postecoglou is making it work though and he must be delighted with the impact of Van de Ven.

The Dutchman arrived from Wolfsburg this summer with Spurs keen to land their long-term solution at left-sided centre back.

Van de Ven didn’t arrive as the finished product but he has already shown confidence on the ball alongside some no-nonsense defending.

Tottenham fans were chanting about Van de Ven during the second half and it looks like he is already becoming a fan favourite.

Van de Ven has taken to Instagram to react to Saturday’s win and received praise from a couple of teammates.

Fellow centre back Cristian Romero replied by calling Van de Ven ‘amazing’, clearly loving life alongside his new centre back partner.

James Maddison joined in, calling Van de Ven’s display ‘top level’ as the 6ft 4in centre back earns major praise in his early weeks as a Tottenham player.
