Celtic right-back Gamboa is set to represent Costa Rica at the World Cup in Russia.

Celtic defender Cristian Gamboa has told the Daily Record that he will consider his future with the Scottish champions after the World Cup, after being ostracised by manager Brendan Rodgers.
The 28-year-old right-back has managed just three appearances throughout the entire 2017-18 campaign, despite one of those being 90 minutes during the 3-0 loss to Bayern Munich back in October.
Mikael Lustig remains Celtic’s first-choice right-back despite a dip in form, while James Forrest has at times been converted into a right-sided defender. January signing Jack Hendry has also been used on the right side of defence.

Gamboa admits that he must consider his future at Parkhead, but stated that he will not consider his future until after the World Cup with his focus solely on impressing in Russia. His frustration under Brendan Rodgers, though, is obvious.
“I always tried to give my best at Celtic, but they have made their decision and the manager decided he didn’t want to use me at all this season,” Gamboa said. “I need to look at the situation after the World Cup.
“Despite the lack of games, I feel fit and ready and prepared. I think we have a good team and are ready to surprise people at this tournament.”

Since moving to Celtic from West Bromwich Albion in the summer of 2016, Gamboa has managed to make 24 appearances in all competitions but has never really got going under Rodgers.
The 62-time international has just a year remaining on his current contract, which the Daily Star claim is worth a huge £15,000 a week.
