Cristian Gamboa has told The Scottish Sun that he will be ready to play for Celtic against Rangers after the international break.

Celtic will take on Old Firm rivals Rangers at Celtic Park in the Scottish Premiership on Saturday, September 10.

Gamboa, who joined the Bhoys from Premier League outfit West Bromwich Albion this week, has said that he will be ready to face Mark Warburton’s side in Glasgow.

The 26-year-old, who can operate as a right-back or as a midfielder, will have few little time to recover from a 13,000-mile round trip for the game against Rangers.

The former Rosenborg man is on international duty with Costa Rica at the moment and will feature in 2018 World Cup qualifiers against Haiti and Panama next month.

Gamboa, who struggled for playing time at West Brom during the 2015-16 campaign, has insisted that he will be ready to play for Celtic against Rangers.

“We have to play Haiti away and Panama at home,” Gamboa told The Scottish Sun. “I will be back next Thursday.

“I’ve been travelling like this for four or five years, so I hope I’ll be ready because you get used to these flights.

“So for me, hopefully I will be ready if I’m not injured. I will just wait for Brendan to say if he needs me or not, but I think I’ll be ready.

“If he needs me or he wants me to go on the bench, I’m going to have no problems. I know it will be difficult but I want to play. We will see what happens.”

Gamboa was able to play just once in the Premier League for West Brom last season, while during the 2014-15 campaign, the Costa Rica international made only 10 league appearances for the Baggies.
