The ex-Premier League and Serie A striker described Juventus’ signing of Gonzalo Higuain as more logical than Manchester United’s signing of Paul Pogba.
Legendary striker Hernan Crespo has given his views on the two biggest transfers of the summer; Paul Pogba to Manchester United and Gonzalo Higuain to Juventus.
Crespo described Juventus’ addition as “far more logical” than Manchester United’s enormous outlay for Pogba.
Talking to the Argentine newspaper La Nacion, Crespo said, “In my view, it is logical to pay €90m for a striker who scored 36 goals in a single season. It’s far more logical than Manchester United paying €110m for Pogba.”

The former Inter Milan forward added that he made his comments with “all due respect for the Frenchman, who is a great midfielder.”
Crespo himself knows what it is like to be the most expensive player on the planet, setting the record when he joined Lazio from Parma for a fee of £35.5 million in 2000.
It is possible that Crespo may be speaking more favourably about Higuain as a fellow Argentine, or perhaps just as a member of the ‘strikers union’, as a former Serie A top scorer himself.
Crespo believes Gonzalo Higuain justifies his price tag
Juventus are not known for splashing enormous amounts of money at a whim, with Higuain breaking their record fee which was set in 2001 with the signing of Gianluigi Buffon.
Crespo added that, “If Juventus paid so much to get Higuain from Napoli, it means he’s worth that money.”
The former Real Madrid striker has scored one goal in two appearances since joining Juve.
Pogba meanwhile has had a mixed start for Manchester United, looking every bit a world class player against Southampton in his first game but being comfortably nullified by Hull City in his second.
