Back in June 2018, Tottenham allowed a 16-year-old named Noni Madueke to leave for PSV Eindhoven while Mauricio Pochettino was at the helm.
At the time, not much was made of it given his status as a youth player. However, in the time since his exit from north London, the teenager has blossomed.
Described as a ‘creative’ talent by PSV Eindhoven’s official website, the now 18-year-old is in the form of his young life in the Netherlands.
So far this season, Madueke has scored five goals and has also assisted five more in just 15 appearances across 634 minutes, as Transfermarkt shows.
That works out at a goal involvement every 63.4 minutes, which is incredible form for someone so young and inexperienced.

In yesterday’s Europa League win over PAOK, Madueke scored one and assisted one, playing a pivotal role in his side’s 3-2 win.
The Dutch side impressively fought back from 2-0 down.

Pochettino has since left Tottenham as well, although we can’t help but wonder if Daniel Levy or any of the remaining staff are kicking themselves that the England Under-18 international was allowed to depart.
Madueke is certainly proving that it was a mistake to let him go, but it’s good to see a bright, young, English talent thriving abroad in similar fashion to Jadon Sancho.
