With Harry Kane staying at Tottenham, the club will now be able to focus on doing some last-minute deals before Tuesday’s deadline.

One name that has popped up, and it’s understandable why given who is in Tottenham’s dugout, is the unpredictable winger, Adama Traore, as reported by the Telegraph.

If Spurs fans were mixed about whether or not they want him on board, well they just need to hear Jan Vertonghen’s previous comments on Instagram live, where he once claimed that he was left ‘helpless’ after facing him.

Vertonghen, who has faced the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Sergio Aguero during his career, named the Wolves winger as his toughest opponent ahead of those players.

The Belgian, who left Spurs last summer, claimed that ‘it was crazy’ how Traore caused him problems for 90 minutes non-stop when he had to play left-back against Wolves in 2019.

“This is funny because I was a centre-back for 15 years,” said Vertonghen. “I have come across the best players, Messi, Ronaldo, Suarez and Aguero. I have played against all of them.

“But the one where I struggled the most for 90 minutes, like non-stop 90 minutes, is when I played left-back against Wolves and Traore.

“I should name Suarez or Auguro. Obviously, they were good and sometimes better than me.

“But where I struggled for 90 minutes was against Wolves. It was crazy. I felt helpless. Then, in the end, I scored a winner, and everyone was like ‘ooh, you had a great game’. I had a very bad game.”

That’s the thing with Traore, he probably leaves opposition players having sleepless nights and thinking they have just come up against their toughest player.

But that end product or lack of ruthless nature in the final third has lacked and been the major issue in his game.

And that was proven on Sunday when Spurs beat Wolves 1-0, but it could have been or so different.

Traore was put through on goal, but he lacked that killer finish, and in the end, it was a big, big chance missed.

However, Nuno seemingly wants him back, so it shows that he knows he can still take his game to another level and get the best out of him.

Plus, Traore thrived the most when Raul Jimenez was fit and firing, imagine what he could do with Kane up top?
