Dominic Solanke admits he is frustrated at a lack of game time but realises there is an obvious reason why.

Liverpool striker Dominic Solanke has admitted he is frustrated not to be playing regularly but acknowledges that the form of their first choice options gives him little chance.

Solanke was signed from Chelsea last summer and earned an England cap last Autumn, making his debut against Brazil.

He was back with the under-21s this week after barely featuring for Liverpool in 2018, and got on the scoresheet.

It was a timely reminder of his talent, and Solanke admitted the situation was not quite ideal, but he has no cause for complaint.

He told The Telegraph: “It’s always frustrating when you’re not playing, but I’m enjoying it at Liverpool.”

Solanke is behind one of Europe’s most fearsome attacks, led by Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane.

The Liverpool youngster is a bright talent, but he is simply not at their level just yet.

He admitted he was in awe of what the Reds’ forwards have been doing.

Solanke added: “There are crazy players at Liverpool, especially in my position, and I’ve definitely learnt a lot. You always have to take the positives and we are doing so well at the moment. The front players have been phenomenal, it’s a good lesson.”

Dominic Solanke of Liverpool scores their teams third goal during the Pre Season Friendly match between Liverpool and Athletic Club at Aviva Stadium on August 5, 2017 in Dublin, Ireland.

The report adds that a loan could be an option next season for Solanke, but there is no rush to come to a decision.

Solanke is 20-years-old and risks stagnating without getting to play regularly.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is renowned for being able to develop players and Solanke is at the right club, but the circumstances are not quite right for him at present to get a run in the side.

There is still a chance for him to make a big impact before the end of the season as a substitute, especially in Champions League games.

His goal for the under-21s will boost his confidence ahead of the crucial run of games ahead.
